Does social media measure your love?

The first round of the NFL drafts took place on April 23 and a short clip of a future NFL star, CeeDee Lamb, went viral. The clip shows his girlfriend reaching for his phone in his hand and then Lamb snatching it back.

This led people to research the couple’s whole relationship through both Lamb and his girlfriend’s social media. And people came to their own conclusions about their relationship– based solely off of what the two post.

Lamb’s social media is covered with everything football: his highlights, brand endorsements and now his new team the Dallas Cowboys. Even though he posts pictures of himself, the account is still all football related. And of course– it’s because football is Lamb’s career and has been a huge part of his life.

However, his girlfriend’s social media, Crymson Rose, is full of pictures of the two of them and some of herself.

This led people to believe that since he does not post pictures of her or of them together, that he doesn’t actually love her. Or people are speculating that she’s more committed to the relationship than he is. But, I don’t know that we can make these determinations solely off social media posts, because we do not know what is going on behind closed doors.

They could be in the best relationship of their lives. We cannot base how well their relationship is from one short clip.

Lamb and Rose later both released statements about the video and what was actually going on in the video in order to clear up the rumors going around about Lamb being unfaithful in the relationship.

What actually happened was that he was getting a call from his agent while he was already on the phone with the Dallas Cowboys. Rose reached for his phone to answer the call from his agent so that he could focus on his conversation with the Cowboys.

I feel that we are all guilty when it comes to occasionally judging a book by its cover. I feel like the media should have waited before judging this couple. The focus should have been on Lamb getting signed to an NFL team, he’s living every young football player dream right now.

Lamb is also from my hometown and he’s making a lot of people proud right now. We should focus on his accomplishments and not weather he is in love with his girlfriend or not. Nor should we try determine their love for one another through social media.
