Santi’s Tacos is an authentic Mexican drive-thru in San Marcos. The fast-food establishment offers many Mexican dishes wrapped in homemade tortillas available for pick up or delivery. Some of their most popular dishes are the Street Tacos and Santi’s Nachos.

I ordered the Santi’s Taco, consisting of a large flour tortilla with melted cheese, fajita, bacon, sausage, cilantro, and avocado. The service was quick and efficient, with my meal arriving within 20 minutes of ordering on their website.

Although the rich flavors of the cheese and fajita melt in your mouth, the tortilla is the true star of this dish, given its soft texture and warm toasty flavor. The complimentary lime and salsa also add a freshness to the flavor overload.

If you are craving Mexican food at all, Santi’s Tacos is the best location in San Marcos for a quick fix.

Nostimo Cafe is a local Mediterranean restaurant in San Marcos currently accepting orders for pick-up and delivery. The restaurant serves all the traditional Mediterranean foods, including gyros, hummus, toasted pita and kebabs.

I ordered the Chicken Shish Kebab, which only took 10 minutes to prepare. The dish comes with plenty of chicken kebabs on a bed of basmati rice and veggies. The chicken has a distinct charcoal flavor, which goes well with the sweetness of the tomatoes and onions.

However, Nostimo is best known for its vegetarian and vegan dishes. This restaurant offers a plethora of options for veggie eaters with a diverse and tasteful menu. With baba ganoush, veggie dolmas and spinach pies, Nostimo is popping with Mediterranean flavor which suits all palettes.

Although Earth Burger is originally from San Antonio, it is still a Texas owned company and is unique for its fully vegetarian menu. Earth Burger specializes in veggie burgers, ranging from faux beef to chicken. One of the two locations is in San Marcos, making it a wonderful substitute for the usual fast food.

I ordered the classic Veggie Burger and the Kale Ginger drink. The burger bursts with flavor and had a nice texture to the patty, which didn’t fall apart like other veggie patties I’ve tried. The ginger drink tasted almost exactly like lemonade and was incredibly refreshing.

While Earth Burger is a go-to for vegans and vegetarians alike, it also opens new doors for other consumers to try new and more environmentally conscious fast food. This will hopefully lead to a larger trend within San Marcos for vegetarian and vegan restaurants.

  1. This is lazy journalism, you didn’t even taste all the food in the menu. There are other places that serve mexican food, like Taquito Mi Rancho, who is always packed.
Mediterranean food is great but The Pita Shop offers better choices. I feel there is no attempt to try the foods San Marcos has to offer.
