SAN MARCOS, Texas– Hays County reported 7,429 cases of COVID-19 as of December 2, according to the Hays County COVID-19 dashboard.

Positivity rate of those tested increased from about 6% to 7% in late November. Hospitalizations of Hays County residents decreased from 16 to 12 as of December 1.

The total number of cases in Hays County has been surging since late October.

The local health department reports that the demographic with the most number of cases are the 30-39 age range.

The CDC recommends the public to follow local health guidelines regarding quarantine length. As of November 3, the CDC advises that people experiencing Coronavirus symptoms should self-isolate for at least 10 days since the symptoms first appeared.

At Texas State University, there are 1, 110 total cases with 74 active cases. With the holiday season approaching, Texas State recommends that students get tested for COVID-19. Visit the student health center website to make an appointment.
