Houseplants add so much life and color to a living space and have become super trendy recently. Most people personify their plants by giving them names, but I thought ‘why not take it a step further and associate them with zodiac signs?’
Here are the houseplants that I feel embody each zodiac sign!
Aries (March 21- April 20) Croton Petra
The Croton Petra plant resembles the colors of fire, which immediately reminded me of the first fire sign in the zodiac. Aries are known for taking charge and commanding a room, and the colorful leaves of this plant have this same effect.
Taurus (April 21- May 21): Zz plant
First of all Taurus’ are known for loving their Z’s, so the name of this plant fits perfectly with their vibe. Much like Taurus’, Zz plants are resilient and low maintenance. This plant just requires daily sunlight and only needs to be watered once a month!
Gemini (May 22- June 21) Cactus
Cacti can be indoor or outdoor plants, so any type of cactus would be a great plant for Geminus who are also known for being adaptable and versatile. The Gemini is also one of the most lively signs in the zodiac, which I think cacti perfectly represents.
Cancer (June 22- July 22) Hoya Heart
Cancers are known for being ruled by their emotions. They are led by their heart, and for that reason, the hoya heart plant is a perfect physical representation of Cancers.
Leo (July 23- Aug. 21) Monstera
Like Leos, Monstera plants need attention. The holes in the plant’s leaves that make it so recognizable won’t even form if the plant is placed in the sun for too long. Like Leos, Monsteras can be high maintenance but everyone loves them regardless.
Virgo (Aug. 22- Sept. 23) Topsy Turvy Echeveria
Virgos are known for being diligent and hard workers. Similarly, the Topsy Turvy Echeveria grows fast without much maintenance- it kind of just keeps to itself and doesn’t need much help.
Libra (Sept. 24- Oct. 23) Snake Plant
Libras are known for being classy and charming; this made me think of the snake plant, which immediately catches your eye. Libras are also shy and don’t want to be in the spotlight; similarly, the snake plant thrives in indirect lighting rather than direct sunlight.
Scorpio (Oct. 24- Nov. 22) Venus Fly Trap
Much like the Venus Fly Trap, Scorpios are strong-willed and get what they want. This sign can also be seen as intimidating, but at the same time, their energy is so unique and exciting, just like a venus fly trap!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23- Dec. 22) String of Pearls
The string of pearls embodies the fun and freedom-loving nature of a Sagittarius. This plant is easy to take care of and is such a fun plant to look at. The string of pearls is just as fun and outgoing as a Sagittarius.
Capricorn (Dec. 23- Jan. 20) Juniper Bonsai Plant
This plant requires a lot of care and discipline from its owner, which would make it a great plant for a Capricorn to have. Capricorns are known for being diligent and meticulous and would be suited to take on the responsibility of owning a Bonsai Plant.
Aquarius (Jan. 21- Feb 19)
Aquarians love thinking outside of the box and being unique. Different from most houseplants, Ivy plants overflow from their pots, and like Aquarius’, they make a statement. Ivys can also be unpredictable in the way they grow and just like an Aquarius, you never know what it’s going to do.
Pisces (Feb. 20- Mar. 20)
Pisces are compassionate and they love to help people. Similarly, the Aloe Vera plant is known for its healing properties- you can break off the leaves and use them as a relief for burns or skin irritation. Aloe vera plants are healing, just like the company of a Pisces.
