First Weeks Always Means Mistakes

Sadly, schools have started back up. It’s a very grim time for almost everyone who goes to school… unless you like school because then this must be a dream for you. But if you are like me, school is the bane of our existence and there’s a wish that it goes away every day.

I just can’t stand being in school. It’s a lot of work and I don’t particularly have a very studious lifestyle. I consistently need to bring myself out of bed and to will all the energy in my body to do something. Let’s top it with COVID and online learning and basically, we’re still stuck.

It’s a predicament.

I’m going to tell you every mistake I have already made during the first week of school. I don’t recommend it.

Dramas

I like tv shows. That’s my life. I tend to get too emotionally involved with any character I remotely enjoy, and it seeps into my school life. As in, I will prefer to watch a drama over watching a lecture. So, I kind of, might’ve… allowed that to happen?

I’m going to all my online classes just fine. Yet, if the lecture is recorded, I may or may not pause it after every five minutes and go back to a show or a reading that has captured my tiny attention span instead.

Now keep in mind, I do finish the recorded lectures. The question is if I retain anything that was said.

I most definitely wish I did pay attention more because now I will have to re-watch my lectures, otherwise I will be behind in class and it barely started. That’s just sad. Yet did I take away any distractions? No.

Drinks

I want to point out that I am 22, therefore, I am allowed to drink. Now, the problem was that I decided to have an alcoholic beverage in the middle of the week, when I most definitely had a class the next morning.

Here’s the thing, if that’s what you want to do, you can most definitely drink in the middle of the week. It’s your life and it’s your choice. However, there’s a thing called “moderation,” and that means you should most definitely moderate how much you drink.

I did not do that.

Books

At this point, I feel like it’s fairly certain that I obviously procrastinate. It’s nothing new. I would love to change it but considering that this is my last semester before I graduate, I don’t think it’s going to change for school.

Here’s the dilemma though: even after all my years in school, I still don’t get my books on time. All my professors have sent out their list of books to get for the semester and makes it very obvious that we are going to use them for class. I just don’t get them until the first week is over.

Sadly, that means I won’t get my books before stuff like quizzes and readings that are due by the end of the week.

I’m just taking guesses on what the answers are and I most likely will only get half of them right. I also don’t know what we will be talking about in class because I didn’t my part and read.

It’s okay, I made the mistakes and I’ll accept them. I should be doing better but it’s the first week, it’s not that bad yet.
