Bobcat Softball Hosting Lone Star Invitational

Texas State, University of Texas (UT) and Baylor softball are set to host the Lone Star Invitational on Feb. 26-28 in San Marcos, Austin and Waco.

The Bobcats enter the weekend 2-1 after losing 1-0 to No. 7 UT Wednesday night.

The Bobcats will play four games in the Lone Star Invitational against No. 20 Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Sam Houston State and Lamar. Of these teams, Mississippi State is 6-1 and will be one of the best teams the Bobcats face all season.

The Bulldogs are led by Mia Davidson, a 2019 First Team All-SEC player and finalist for the USA Collegiate Softball Player of the Year. Other top players making an appearance in San Marcos this weekend are Mississippi State’s Fa Leilua, Sam Houston State’s Megan McDonald and Ole Miss’s Blaise Biringer.

The Bobcats will have more favor in the rest of their games against Ole Miss (4-5), Sam Houston State (0-0) and Lamar (2-8).

The Bobcats will rely on strong pitching from Jessica Mullins, Meagan King and Dalilah Barrera, for a combined 0.65 team ERA through the three games. Cat Crenek and ArieAnn Bell lead Texas State offensively with both hitting .400 during the season.

The Bobcat’s first game against Mississippi State is set for 1 p.m. Friday, followed by a double-header Saturday versus Ole Miss then Sam Houston State and concluding Sunday versus Lamar.
