Women rappers and artists aren’t always highlighted in hip-hop which is presented as male-dominated. However, women are essential to the genre from top to bottom. That is more prevalent than ever as women rappers have risen to the forefront of the genre.
Hip-hop is in a better place because of the growing inclusiveness and content created by women. However, there still is a long way to go.
In honor of women’s history month, this playlist has been dedicated to women in the genre. This is the sequel to a playlist created a year ago that you can listen to here. The new playlist highlights some of my favorite women rappers as well as songs that should be in your rotation.
