Summer Trends

Although trends have always come and gone, it seems as though in our fast-paced, social media-driven, and almost easily bored society, it’s even harder to keep up with current popular trends. People are always looking for the next thing, and right when you hop on one trend, the next is already surfacing. This is something that is easily noticeable on social media, especially TikTok. There are videos constantly circling showing the latest trends in fashion and making sure to let everyone know if something is outdated, or now known as “cheugy.”

Over the past few years, it has become very apparent that the influence of our current popular fashion is from past decades. A perfect example of this is baggier, “mom-jean” styled pants coming back into the fashion world as a staple. For years, especially for a lot of my age group in middle school, skinny jeans were the style that was in, but we are coming back to the looser fitted pants, which I love.

Trucker Hats

Trucker hats have begun to resurface and are starting to make a comeback this summer. In the early 2000s, trucker hats were a trend and were seen being worn by many celebrities during this time, including Paris Hilton. Nowadays, Trucker hats have been worn by many influencers and even some celebrities such as Bella Hadid. I think they are a great accessory to add to your outfit this summer!

Acrylic Jewelry

Chunky and colorful acrylic rings have also been a huge trend these last few months. This is another trend that is loved by Bella Hadid and many influencers. Although I think they are cute and are a fun accessory for summer outfits, I could see them being considered outdated sooner rather than later. There have been trends on Tik Tok where creators list things that they think will be “cheugy” within a few years and these rings have frequently been on their list.

2000s Patterns 

Fun/funky and colorful patterns are back! I love this trend, and I think it is especially so cute for the summertime. This is also another perfect example of old trends coming back into style. The bright colors and fun patterns are a perfect way to have a cute summer outfit. Hopefully, this trend will stay around longer than some, although I definitely think it will.

Crochet

The last trend I have noticed that I will be talking about is crochet. I noticed that crochet tops have become pretty big this summer, and I think they are super cute! I love them for the summer because they are lightweight and perfect for going out in the summer heat, especially since they are usually halter or tank tops.

Although many other trends are beginning to surface, even as you read this, these are the ones that I have noticed significantly in recent weeks.
