Nov. 8th, 2022: Hays County Election Results

The November 2022 General Election took place yesterday. The Hays County voter turnout was 52.53%. Out of 170,350 registered voters, 89,493 showed up to the polls to cast their votes. 

  

Below are the statewide election results for the 2022 Texas General Election. 

 

United States Representative, District 21: 

• Chip Roy – Republican – 54.09% 

• Claudia Andreana Zapata – Democrat – 45.91% 

 

United States Representative, District 35: 

• Dan McQueen – Republican – 33.28% 
• Greg Casar – Democrat – 66.72%  

 

Governor: 

• Greg Abbott – Republican – 54.9% 
• Beto O’Rourke – Democrat – 43.8% 

 

Lieutenant Governor: 

• Dan Patrick – Republican – 42.51% 
• Mike Collier – Democrat – 53.71% 

 

Attorney General: 

• Ken Paxton – Republican – 41.8% 
• Rochelle Mercedes Garza – Democrat – 54.4% 

 

Commissioner of Agriculture: 

• Sid Miller – Republican – 45.1% 

• Susan Hays – Democrat – 54.9% 

 

Railroad Commissioner: 

• Wayne Christian – Republican – 55.4% 
• Luke Warford – Democrat – 40.5%

• Mark Jones – Republican – 49.6% 

• Ruben Becerra – Democrat – 50.4 % 

 

Mayor, City of San Marcos: 

• Jane Hughson – 62.8% 
• John Thomaides – 37.2% 

 

County Commissioner, Precinct 2: 

• Mike Gonzalez – Republican – 39.2% 
• Michelle Gutierrez Cohen – Democrat – 60.8% 

 

County Commissioner, Precinct 4: 

• Walt Smith – Republican – 54.1% 
• Susan Cook – Independent – 45.9% 

 

Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5: 

• Karen Marshall – Republican – 43.2% 
• Sandra Bryant – Democrat – 56.8%
