Organization of the Month – Women in Business

The organization I chose to promote this month is Women in Business (WIB). This organization was created over a year ago and originates from Spring of 2021.

The mission of WIB is to create a space of sharing knowledge and ideas as well as forming a conversation around the realities a woman faces within the workforce today. 

WIB discusses topics that are curated for their members and formulate presentations with guest speakers to present those topics. Upcoming presentations the organization will present this fall will be Working in an Intercultural Environment by Monique Chambers (Siemens Energy), Effective Business Communication  by Professor Christina Moore (McCoy College of Business), Professional Development  by Ava Farrar (Total Quality Logistics), and Coffee Chats with Dr. Stephanie Solansky (McCoy College of Business). Moreover, the overall goal of these topics is to create a conversation, gaining perspective, and grasping a deeper understanding of the information presented.

Bi-weekly meetings are held on Mondays at 6:00p.m. in McCoy. These gatherings will be a space to grow in professional skills, typically ones not taught in class, as a team together. 

Additionally, WIB hosts social events to offer a space for their members to build a community. Examples of social events they will orchestrate are: holiday themed socials, game nights, study parties, and an end-of-semester celebration.
