The City of San Marcos issued a Boil Water Notice on Facebook this morning for several areas in the city.
The streets included in the notice are Village West, Harmons Way, Hunter Ridge, Quail Run (North of Trails End), Lazy Lane, Oak, Maple, Mulberry, Mesquite, Hamilton Hollow, Knight and Day.
The notice was issued due to an electrical failure, causing loss of water pressure in the system Sunday. According to the comments left by the City of San Marcos-City Hall account on the same post, residents who were effected were delivered notices soon after the incident occurred.
“The electrical failure impacted the Programable Logic Controller which tells the valves to open and close, and caused the storage tank valve to close,” Madeline Baker, City of San Marcos Government’s communications specialist, said. “The tank was not able to supply the 20 PSI required by TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality), and once pressure drops below 20 PSI a Boil Water Notice is required. This incident had no impact on water resources.”
Currently, this has no affect on the city’s water resources, as the city waits for water test sample results.
“A Boil Water Notice does not mean the water is contaminated, it is simply a precautionary measure until we receive the water test sample result,” Baker said. “Those results should be in tomorrow afternoon.”
UPDATE: The Boil Water Notice was rescinded Tuesday for the following streets: Village West, Harmons Way, Hunter Ridge, Quail Run (North of Trails End), Lazy Ln, Oak, Maple, Mulberry, Mesquite, Hamilton Hollow, Knight and Day.
