Earlier this year, one of the many respected clubs on The Square officially reopened after being closed for months due to construction delays. The Marc is back and better than ever!
Multiple renovations were added to the venue, including a new backdrop screen and surrounding TVs. The screen is located behind the DJ booth and the images displayed change according to the theme for the night. At times, the screen will display a mirrored video of the crowd dancing, adding a cute, new perspective on the dance floor.
The women’s restroom was also renovated, adding two LED vanity mirrors and a standing LED mirror. These renovations make for great photo opportunities for guests.
The Marc is known, and highly praised, for the Latin Nights that are hosted every Tuesday. DJ Ortiz is the recurring DJ for the night, and he knows how to keep the crowd alive and going. The specials at the bar include two-dollar beer and two-to-five-dollar shots of a variety of tequila.
Whiskey Wednesday is usually calmer than Latin Nights. DJ Que plays country classics while the bar provides discounted shots and beer. Every day of the week, excluding Thursday, offer a $100 bottle service. The drinks the venue offers are perfect for individuals who prefer to stay on the sweeter side of things.
The venue has scheduled multiple different concerts and events for the summer. Waka Flocka Flame is scheduled to perform on June 22. The venue is hosting a Big Bubble Rave on June 23, which I am sure will be just as fun as it sounds. Jawns, an electronic music DJ, will be performing a free show on June 24. Be sure to check out The Marc’s website for ticket prices.
The Marc has remained the only 18+ club on The Square since the closing of Stonewall Warehouse. The Porch and Nephews occasionally host 18+ events, but these events are not frequent. Unfortunately, many locations on The Square have neglected to include locations for underage students interested in nightlife. The Marc provides a great place for the underage crowd to have fun and enjoy the nightlife that The Square has to offer.
The venue provides utmost security to ensure a safe night out for San Marcos residents. The bouncers are quick to notice if an altercation is about to occur or if someone tries to slip drinks to a minor.
The venue has partnered with a harm reduction and crisis prevention team called After Dark Angels. If anyone ever feels unsafe or in need of assistance, they can make their way over to the bar and order using different codewords based on what they are in need of. An “angel shot” will alert an After Dark Angel to come and assess the situation. An “angel shot neat” will have a bouncer come and escort whoever is causing unease out of the venue. An “angel shot dressed” will have an After Dark Angel or bouncer escort someone to their car.
The Marc always knows how to keep guests coming back. If you are looking for a fun night out, check out and follow The Marc’s Twitter page to stay updated on upcoming concerts and summer events.
