As the holidays get closer and the fall semester ends, there’s still the last and final stretch for college students. Finals season is upon us, and the semester seems heavier and more rushed than ever. Time feels like it’s running out, and with so many final exams and projects due, getting things done on time without cramming everything in all at once seems almost impossible. Stress at this point in the semester skyrockets, and the feeling of burning out feels more tangible than before. However, here are some ways to manage this undeniable stress during finals season. The five stress-relieving tips are:

1. Schedule things accordingly

A planner or a calendar on paper or digital can help you keep up with everything you have to do, helping you feel more comfortable. Scheduling could show you how busy you are with exams and projects.

2. Drink water

Believe it or not, dehydration is a lot more common during these times than one would think. Staying hydrated while drinking caffeine to stay awake will help you avoid the dehydration epidemic.

3. Take breaks

Have some time for yourself. When you are stuck on a project or aren’t paying attention to anything you’re studying – a break is needed. That will help clear your head and reduce the irritation and stress so you can come back with a clear mind.

4. Prioritize your mental health

Talking to the counselors on campus could be a great way to relieve all that built-up stress. They could help you find ways to manage stress better with what works specifically for you.

5. Rest

Sleep is one of the most crucial factors here. If you aren’t sleeping enough, there is a possibility that your mind and body won’t cooperate with you as much to keep you energized. Set a sleep schedule that has enough hours for you to sleep.

Even though these are just suggestions, they could help you during this finals season. If needed, visit the TXST counseling center and make an appointment on their website: https://www.counseling.txst.edu/

Good luck, Bobcats!
