If you had one night to experience all that the San Marcos music scene had to offer, how would you go about doing it? Would you walk around the grounds of Private Park? Find yourself enjoying a local house show? Maybe by attending Third Thursday at The Porch? What if I told you that there was an event combining the best of all three under one roof, and it’s this weekend.
“Every show Brendan and I have done together has brought such an amazing atmosphere that you do not want to miss,” Fulkerson said.
Ever since Hannah Fulkerson and Brendan Morrow went to Alchemy Records with the idea to throw a show, this local San Marcos record store has blossomed into a wonderful new venue. With its seamless transformation from storefront to late-night venue, Fulkerson loves the exposure it deservedly receives through local music.
“Alchemy is a for sure spot to check out,” Fulkerson said. “Working with Walter is always enjoyable.”
When explaining how the line-up for the show came together, Fulkerson said how important the role of collaboration played in its inception.
“Not only did I plan it with Brendan, but with my friend Gray Delautre as well,” Fulkerson said. “These are the bands that we each enjoy, listen to, and even that one person on the team is a part of.
Giving her personal approval of each one, anyone in attendance can be guaranteed to have their musical taste expanded. “This show is a no miss! Come ready to have fun!”

Oshera – 8:00 p.m.
The show kicks off at 8:00 p.m. with Oshera, offering a nostalgic taste of 2000s emo music placed subliminally within the abrasive stylings of a modern-day screamo band. Coming straight from the underground Austin music scene, Oshera is the perfect choice to start such an exciting night.
“Gray introduced me to them and I’m excited to see what they bring to the lineup,” Fulkerson said.
Corinth – 9:00 p.m.
Slated to perform at 9:00 p.m., Corinth brings a classic screamo style laced with their own brand of mid-west emo melancholy. Seen as a hidden gem by many, it’s fair to say that this group will be a highlight of the evening.
“I love their energy and dynamic, as well as their sound,” Fulkerson said. “It’s incredibly unique and I cannot wait to watch them grow as a band.”
Phonefoot – 10:00 p.m.
With the tasteful selection of Phonefoot to finish off the night at 10:00 p.m., everyone in attendance is guaranteed to leave this show on a high note. The San Antonio emo band brings just the right amount of energy for a mosh pit while simultaneously providing guitar-driven melodies that anyone can enjoy.
“Personally, my favorite pick for this bill,” Fulkerson said. “Their energy is incredible, and I highly suggest everyone listen to their music or come to the show to catch theirs and everyone else’s set!”
Happening Jan. 28, this show is a must-see event for anyone curious about what the San Marcos music scene is really like. Make sure to take off work and find yourself down at Alchemy Records before doors open at 7:00 p.m.!
“The hardcore scene is my favorite to work with currently, hearing it live will for sure change your life,” Fulkerson said. “I hope to see everyone who comes across this article at the show :D!”
***At the time of this publication, Life Is Pain was no longer a part of the advertised show.***
