Which Frost Children: SPEED RUN songs should you play?

Do you want to dance? Want something to play at the next party?  That Electronic hyper-pop upbeat song that makes you just want to fist pump in the air? Then I have the Album for you. 

On April 14, 2023, the band Frost Children created their second album SPEED RUN. The duo Angel and Lulu Prost curated the album in New York. The album consists of 11 songs, both having roots in electronic sound. 

The album may not be widely acclaimed and well-received but to me, the album provides a refreshing new take on the party scene. Their eclectic-absurd production of the beats alongside the simplistic lyrics makes these songs perfect for any electronic party setting. 

I heavily recommend listening to these songs with a lot of bass. In order from least important to most, these are my rankings of tracks from the album. 

#11 & 10 

The numbers 11 and 10 spots go to “Wonderland” and “Notice Me.” These were the slowest songs on the Album and appealed to more of a somber and love-induced audience. Both contain very drummy beats and lots of harmonies that are made throughout the production of the songs. The feature on “Wonderland” made by May Rio adheres to the claim of the love theme in these songs because the harmonies made in “Wonderland” feel light and adoring. While “Notice Me” sounds like love with a heartbreaking overtone. That is why they are at the bottom of the pyramid; we all love a good slow song, just not for a party playlist. 

#9 & 8

In the number 9 and 8 spots, we have “All I Got” and “Angel’s Thoughts.” Overall, these tracks are made up of many upbeat pop/Alt electronic beats.  The bass-filled electronic sound is very catchy and energizing, but besides that, I needed more from the vocals and lyrics; and in my opinion, was not happening. I still think they would make for a good party song; you would have to sneak them in there if you wanted to. These tracks would also possibly make for a great movie soundtrack song. Angel’s thoughts – particularly towards the end – allow for a party dance vibe. 

#7 & 6

For 7 and 6 spots are the tracks titled “COUP” and “Sick Trip.” These songs are high energy and contain a classic EDM sound, one you think of when you think of electronic dance music. “COUP” is the first song on the album and is the perfect track to be the start of the album. The song introduces to the listener what to expect when they dive deeper. Like the rest of these songs, they are heavy on the bass. Great songs to have in the background when you want to listen to something more upbeat. 

#5 & 4

The top five! The songs I have placed here, in 5 and 4, are still electronic, mixed with emo grunge. They are heavy on bass like the rest but hold more of a punk rocker attitude. “Serpent” and “Obsessed” are songs that go wild off the rip. In “Serpent,” we are immediately thrown into the song with sounds that remind the listener of thrashing and anger. The punky song still has the EDM flare where you can dance and party. “Obsessed” does the same, with thrashy beats that mellow out to ramp up the punk vibes again. If you are interested in these kinds of beats or want something not too punky, then I recommend these. 

#3 & 2 

In the 3 and 2 spots on this list are the tracks titled, “Hi-5” and “Let it Be.” These songs are super fun and warrant a high-energy experience when you listen to them. “Hi-5” is a song that uses a classic EDM drum pack but is easy enough to allow people who are not true EDM listeners to enjoy their music. Lots of snares and video game samples are used in this song. It [the song] does not disappoint as those samples make you want to bust a move. These songs are number 7 and 8 on the album and are perfect together. When paired together, the songs add a good 6 minutes of constant EDM party filler. They work together because both keep the same energy and do not confuse the audience with lots of words and focus on the beats. These songs are great for dancing. They just want to make you move!

The number one spot on this list is “Flatline.” I saw them in concert as a first-time listener and this song from day one has held my pick for a favorite song that they have created. To me, it’s the ultimate party song that gets the party going. The snare-loops and nonsensical lyrics that don’t disturb are what make this track; adding that spice of flavor that everyone needs in their music playlists. We need to get back to when clubs and parties had music that everyone could dance and jump to. “Flatline” is something for everyone.
