Spring break has kickstarted with music festivities and offers so many great shows lined up for the San Marcos community to enjoy and celebrate with this week. On Friday, live music celebrations began with Texas bands who brought a mix of emo, screamo, and metal to San Marcos Private Park.

The Spring Break kickoff featured Corinth, Glockteau Twins, Good Luck Benson, xHeartworksx, Homewrecker, and Sinema. If you enjoy moshing and a pool party, I hope you didn’t miss this epic lineup and kickoff organized by Hannah Baratang (@superhellarad on Instagram). Alchemy Records also organized a show recently on Monday with the lineup including a mix of rock and folk bands — Window Shop, Virginia Creeper, and Autumnal.
Coming up there will be many more shows included with the SXSW festival and outside pre-shows that will be open to all, even without a wristband. If you are sticking around in San Marcos during the well needed Spring Break holiday you should check out some of the music the community has to offer and swing by for a free and cool show in town or in Austin if you can make it.
As SXSW festivities began on Friday, there are many pre-show events that are open to public without a wristband. If you couldn’t secure a badge or wristband, you should know you are not alone! There is still a chance you can make it into the venue. Advice: arrive early, plan ahead, and RSVP!!

Rolling Stone’s Future of Music, a part of SXSW, is open to the public and gives priority to wristband and badge holders. Artists like Teezo Touchdown, Flo Milli, and Faye Webster will be performing at this official showcase a part of ACL Live starting March 12th – March 15th. This event is spreading on social media fast as it is open to the public so if you are wanting to get a good spot to see your favorite artists, get to Moody Theater especially early and most importantly RSVP here!
Another live show going on in Austin, outside from SXSW, is Live Music Week at Still Austin Whiskey Co. From March 12th – March 16th you can hear performances from a diverse range of Texas artists. This is an all-ages event and you can pop in anytime you like. Performances from The Tiarras, West 22nd, Ruthie Craft, and more are scheduled on the Tuesday lineup starting from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m.
If you are keeping it local without the drive to Austin, San Marcos radio station KZSM 104.1 FM, is partnering with The Porch to host a fundraiser that will include performances from Cheer Up, Cheer Up, Emma Zeck, Vanna Black, and more artists with an indie/folk/rock vibe. If you are looking for a laidback show to hang out relax before the week is over, swing by The Porch from 6:30 p.m. – midnight this Friday on March 15th. This is a great chance to support your local organizations independent artists in your community and have a great time doing it.
