San Marcos—A store where vintage and modern come together is how Dylan Lilly, the manager, describes Love Buzz. Students and people from out of town come to see what new pieces they can add to their wardrobes.
Lilly has been working at Love Buzz for a year and a half and says what he enjoys the most is interacting with customers and has even made friends with some of them. He also said he appreciates his team, working with them and coming together.
“It’s just a good environment,” said Lilly.
Lilly started in an entry-level position and worked his way up to become a manager. Love Buzz not only provides clothing to customers but also offers opportunities for advancement to employees.
“This place has allowed me to grow as a professional,” said Lilly.
Walking in, there are racks of clothes throughout the store and tees hanging on the walls. There is a small lounging area in the front, where customers are encouraged to sit and hang out for a while. The store has a vibe that resembles your trendy older sibling’s room.
“Young. It’s a very youthful energy in here for the most part,” said Mila Armstrong.
There are many T-shirts with graphics, from bands and artists to slogans and cartoons. They also offer bottoms and sweaters, including Vintage Polo Ralph Lauren and Nike sweaters, as well as hats, caps and shoes.

San Marcos is known to have a tight community, but Armstrong and Lilly point out that the people who come into the store sometimes leave with more than a clothing item.
Armstrong has been a cashier at Love Buzz for 10 months and expressed that one of the things she enjoys about working there is sorting through the clothes and seeing what customers pick out.
“They’ll pick up pieces that I would never consider, but they’re going to wear it in their own fun, unique way,” said Armstrong.
Love Buzz is working to expand its clothing to not only more streetwear but also vintage and modern clothing for women. “We have a lot of streetwear but were slowly but surely growing our feminine clothing,” said Armstrong.
For the moment, they only have a small rack of dresses and tops, and although most of the tees are men’s t-shirts, they are not specifically catered to men. The majority of their clothing items are unisex, which allows them to reach a wider range of customers.
“We do sell vintage and modern pieces, and I would say across the board, a lot of these prices are fair, and they cater towards the college community.”
Customers who walk in can expect to find unique pieces of clothing and accessories as well as a sense of what the college community looks and feels like. “You come in here, and I really believe you’ll leave with something that is unique to you,” said Lilly.
