FKA Twigs has announced that her long-awaited third studio album is finally coming. Titled EUSEXUA, the record will be out on January 24, 2025.

In a press statement, the multidisciplinary artist explained that EUSEXUA was born from a deeply creative time she had in Prague. The album’s title is inspired by a word Twigs coined; one that describesa feeling of momentary transcendence often evoked by art, music, sex and unity.

The record follows 2014’s critically acclaimed debut LP1, 2019’s MAGDALENE and her 2022 mixtape CAPRISONGS. It feels like a seismic shift for Twigs who has been in constant motion, redefining the boundaries of music, performance and visual art. “EUSEXUA has been my practice for the years that it has been in creation,” Twigs wrote on Instagram. “It is my opus and truly feels like a pin at the centre of the core of my artist.

Spread across 11 tracks, the album will feature contributions from the likes of Koreless and Eartheater among a host of other genre-boundary-pushing producers whose support helped form the sonic landscape of the title track.

Encapuslating the whole LP, the song itself pulsates on an ethereal plane with swirls of electronic texture driven by rhythm and emotion. For Twigs, EUSEXUA is less about genre than the spirit of the music and community that birthed the record: “The album isn’t techno, but the spirit is there for real. It’s deep but not sad. I’m not sad anymore.”

This is no ordinary album launch. Last month, Twigs held a strictly invitation-only listening party in New York City, where those who attended got an advanced taste of the record; their reaction was nothing short of euphoric. The self-titled title track is an instant highlight and a perfect opening song that sets the bar for what is surely going to be Twigs’ most expansive and deeply personal work to date.

EUSEXUA isn’t just sound. It is movement, expression and transcendence. This is best illustrated by The Eleven, a new performance art piece designed by Twigs which premiered at Sotheby’s in London earlier this month.

The piece features a rotating cast of eleven “movers,” including Twigs herself, as an avatar of the album’s ethos: the pursuit of self-healing through movement practice and somatic techniques. The Eleven blurred the lines between music, dance and the visual arts in a visceral representation of what EUSEXUA has to say.

EUSEXUA was birthed in chicken scratch, written on the back of my hand in a toilet at a rave in Prague,” Twigs wrote on Instagram. “‘This room of fools—WE MAKE SOMETHING TOGETHER’ and we do. We rave, we sweat, we kiss, we make love to the booming thud of culture.” This echolocator feeling courses through the veins of the album’s eleven tracks, an exploration into ecstatic highs and tender moments of vulnerability that come from shared experiences.

EUSEXUA, in many ways, feels and sounds like a concept album; not because it clings to any one rigid narrative, but because it’s the personification of a state of being, a practice as Twigs herself referred to it. It’s an ode to art, music, love and unison, packaged in sound and movement; it feels preordained that this album will be one to define this era.

Twigs has never been one to shy away from experimentation or plumbing the very depths of her creative spirit. But EUSEXUA feels different, almost a fearless, bold statement that reaches for something beyond the music itself. It’s an invitation, for transcending, moving, feeling and losing your sense of self within the shared human experience.

With this record, Twigs has healed herself, not only as an artist or entertainer but as a visionary. She further cements herself as a cultural architect, building a bridge between sound, sensation and the soul.

Expect EUSEXUA to leave its mark on dance floors worldwide, on the bodies swaying as one and on the hearts of all those who will allow it to take them someplace new.

“EUSEXUA has been my practice for the years that it has been in creation. It is my opus and truly feels like a pin at the center of the core of my artist.

EUSEXUA is a practice

EUSEXUA is a state of being

EUSEXUA is the pinnacle of human experience”
