Head Coach Steve Holeman gave his thoughts on the match in his post-game press conference.

“I thought it was a pretty good game. I thought both teams scored on a set-piece, and we knew set-pieces were going to be really important in this game,” Holeman said.

Nevertheless, Holeman expressed that he is not satisfied with a tie and spoke on matters not on the pitch affecting the game.

“Disappointed with a draw, I mean we had so many opportunities to win this game,” Holeman said. “I think it is unfortunate that outside circumstances cost us a result and cost us a couple points.”

The team performed and fought well with the given circumstances, according to Coach Holeman.

“There is not much we can do about that; all we can control is what we do,” Holeman said. “I thought our girls fought hard tonight and we did some really good stuff tonight.”

Coach Holeman also spoke about the team’s increased pressure throughout the second half of the match.

“I think that is kind of a result of being at home and having a lot of energy. We have pretty good depth on our team and the girls are pretty fit,” Holeman said. “We certainly were not satisfied with the result at halftime, especially when we went down the way it happened. We had a lot to battle tonight, and I thought we played really well in the second half.”

According to Coach Holeman, the next match against the Troy Trojans comes at a good time for the maroon and gold.

“It is nice to have a single game weekend, this game comes at a really good time. We will get a couple players back from injury and we’ll be full go,” Holeman said. “It will be good to have a couple off days here to where we can refocus and get our energy back and we’ll be ready to go Thursday.”

Coach Holeman lastly spoke about the team’s current undefeated streak, now reaching eight straight games without a loss.

“I think we are taking it one game at a time. We have a pretty good team and have shown this year that we can be good on the road and good at home,” Holeman said. “We are just focused in and taking it one game at a time.”

The Texas State Bobcats are now 6-4-3 on the season and will hit the road to take on the Troy Trojans on Oct. 10 for their next conference matchup.
