SAN MARCOS- The Texas State Bobcats took care of business against the Eastern Michigan Eagles in Strahan Arena with an impressive 64-44 win.
The Bobcats were rolling to start this game as Tyrel Morgan hit a three to give the Bobcats a 12-4 lead at the 14-minute mark in the first half. However, the Eagles weren’t going down without a fight as they cut the deficit to four as Christian Henry hit on his free throws. Then the Eagles let the Bobcats slip away as the Bobcats ended the half with a 35-22 lead.
The Bobcats headed to the locker room feeling confident as they had a 13-point lead and never trailed in the first half. The last four minutes of the first half the Bobcats scored nine points as the Eagles only scored one. With this momentum the Bobcats never looked back.

The Bobcats started the second half blazing. Tylan Pope got a huge block on the defensive end and answered with a three on offense. Pope who had come from Nevada is a new addition to this Texas State Bobcats team. When asking Coach Johnson how he felt about seeing his new guys getting their first in-game action he said, “It felt good for me, I mean I see these guys putting in the work and seeing them trusting and believing in what we do”. Pope finished the game with 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles tried flying their way out of the deficit, but the Bobcats never let them. The Bobcats biggest lead this game was 28 points and the score was 57-39 with 11 minutes to go in the game. The Bobcats took care of business in the MAC-SBC challenge as they won 66-44 for the first game of the season.
The Bobcats will try to go 2-0 as they take on the McMurry Warhawks this Friday at 7:00pm at Strahan Arena.
