Bidding Winter Goodbye: The Soundtrack of Spring’s Arrival

Spring is a reawakening of sorts, a renaissance or rebirth of life after enduring hibernation for months. The shift into spring shines in every aspect of our lives. The colors of our clothes change from hues of black, and gray to vibrant pastels and neons. We stop ordering hot teas or coffees and instead load our drinks with ice. Another sign that spring is near is how the green, grassy hills of Sewell Park have been replaced with the bodies of college students.

Although spring does not technically start until mid-March, it feels as if the shackles of winter have finally been broken! Celebrate the transition and elevate your spring season with an amazing soundtrack. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with five must-play songs to enjoy while soaking up the warm Texan sun.

The artwork features a woman with long, flowing black hair, golden skin, and an upper body resembling classical portrait-style paintings, while her lower body transforms into a bubble-like structure. She is sitting on rocky terrain by the ocean with a cosmic background filled with stars and white beams of light. Geometric shapes, a blue pyramid, and an orange object lay at the bottom of the image. The artists’ name is displayed in yellow lettering on top of a black background along the left border of the cover.

First up, we have “La Niña del Volcán (Polocorp Remix) [feat. Eva de Marce]” by YoSoyMatt & Polocorp. Being on the electronic dance music kick that I’ve been on for months now, this song has been a staple since discovering it. Want a funky beat and soothing singing to fill the spaces of your ears? This is it. Want to drive down the freeway with your windows down? Choose this song to fulfill that fantasy. Released in 2019 as a single, “La niña del volcán” is YoSoyMatt’s most successful project by far. As a result of falling in love with this song, I listened to the albums he’s released since then, and I think everyone should check out his art. Especially if you’re Latinx and a fan of the electronic genre.

A warm yellow background with the band’s name, “Jungle,” in bold and black lettering placed in the center. The album title, “For Ever,” is repeated in a continuous border around the edges of the cover.

Thank God for “Back on 74” being the sensational hit that it was because it introduced to me the marvelous world that is Jungle. If you haven’t completely absorbed Jungle’s entire discography like I have, let me recommend to you their 2018 album titled “For Ever.” Specifically for this album, “Casio” was an instant favorite. When I was creating the playlist for this article, I was imagining songs with beats that feel tangible in some way. I wanted to include songs that, as soon as the soundwaves reach you, there’s a bop that overcomes you. A snap, head nod, hip sway, or even that disgusted looking face we sometimes make when a beat is just too good. With “Casio” that is immediately accomplished. That seems to be a theme within Jungle’s discography, they make music that lifts spirits and physically makes you want to move your body and dance. If there’s one song you take away from this playlist, make it this one!

Futuristic and surreal album cover featuring a glowing cross-shaped structure made of glass or crystal. Inside the cross, an illuminated skeletal torso with fiery orange and yellow energy-like veins is visible, creating a striking contrast against the dark background.

The world should be eternally grateful for Justice and Tame Impala’s collaboration in “Neverender”. Kevin Parker, the lead singer of Tame Impala, has an iconic voice never fails to just melt with the music it surrounds itself with. The psychedelic sound of Tame Impala and Justice’s high energy music styles meld into one cohesive piece that makes you feel so much more alive than you did four minutes and twenty-seven seconds ago. “Neverender” will be on repeat for many people, and I suggest that you join the club.

The design features a textured, painterly background with deep shades of green, teal, and hints of brown, resembling a moody, organic landscape. The band's name, “Palace,” appears in sleek, thin white capital letters, with the album title “Greyhound” positioned just below, creating a minimalist yet atmospheric aesthetic.

Sometimes you need music to act as a blanket of comfort and produce a moment of peace. In these little moments you want tranquil sounds and soft hums, and this is the essence of “Greyhound” by Palace. Picture this: It’s a breezy spring evening, and you’re outside around a campfire with your loved ones. You’re on aux, and you queue “Greyhound.” The soft romantic sways of the music engulf the group, and the mood is idyllic. You are now the designated vibe curator.

Album cover for “Into the Way” by Próxima Parada. The artwork features a grainy, textured landscape of vast sandy dunes under a cloudy sky, evoking a sense of solitude and exploration. A small, distant figure is visible in the lower right, emphasizing the vastness of the scenery. The band's name appears in red handwritten-style text in the top left corner, while the album title is in a subtle, faded black font in the top right, enhancing the minimalist and vintage aesthetic.

We’ve reached the third month of 2025, and new year’s resolutions are no longer, life is complicated again, and the workload is piling up. The fogginess has now cleared up, and one song that’s been keeping me grounded is “So Many Ways to Get Downtown” by Próxima Parada. When I play this song, it reminds me to be grateful for the experiences I’ve had, no matter how good or bad, and reignites my motivations. When I think of spring and sounds that fit into its aesthetic, Próxima Parada captures its spirit.

With these five suggestions, you are almost guaranteed to begin the spring season with joy and a revitalized love for life! May your spring soundtrack bring an abundance of unbounded joy and tranquility.
