SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State swept the Bobcat Invitational with 16 wins and several record-breaking performances.

Senior high jumper Aiden Hayes delivered one of the meet’s biggest moments, clearing 2.22 meters to set both a meet and facility record while claiming the top mark in the nation.

Texas State has a strong performance at home track meet in San Marcos.

“I was just happy to come out here and jump for God,” Hayes stated. “I’m just trying to come out here, have fun, and continue having fun the rest of the season.”

Easton Hammond added another historic performance Friday, posting 7,823 points in the decathlon to break both meet and facility records and take over the No. 1 mark nationally.

Hammond secured first-place finishes in the long jump (7.09m), high jump (2.08m), pole vault (4.90m), javelin (54.00m), and 1500m (4:26.10).

Sophie Daugard claimed the heptathlon title with a school-record 5,537 points. She earned a first-place finish in the javelin (43.48m) and added three runner-up finishes in the shot put (12.93m), long jump (6.00m), and 800m (2:25.55).

The Bobcats remained consistent throughout the meet as the race toward nationals continues. Texas State will next travel to California to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational and the 65th Annual Mt. SAC Relays.
