SAN MARCOS, Texas — With the wind gusting and playoff implications looming over Rattler Stadium. The San Marcos Rattlers were unable to pick up a win against the Clemens Buffaloes. Finishing with a score of 28-7.
The Rattlers were able to get on the board first. A big run from Sebastian Diaz and two rushes from Ysrael Colton was enough to get the Rattlers into the endzone. This was their first time having the lead and their first opening drive touchdown of the season.
However, after the first drive the Rattlers never saw the endzone for the rest of the game. With Clemens adding a touchdown off a big run from Luis Santiago. As well as a botched snap from the Rattlers turning into three points for the Buffaloes. Turnovers continued to loom over the first quarter with the Rattlers turning it over once again which turned into a touchdown pass for Clemens.

The Rattler defense had a spark of life mid-way through the second quarter forcing a fumble to put themselves in decent field position. With the drive ending in a failed fake punt attempt which had been successful earlier in the game.
The Buffaloes would eventually score before the end of the half with a rushing touchdown from Daevion Davis capping off a 22 point unanswered first half.
In the 2nd half the Rattler defense was able to keep the Buffaloes off the board thanks to the numerous quarterback pressures from the defensive line. Jordan Lampkin had some big runs to push the ball forward for the Rattler offense. With the Rattler offense knocking on the door of the redzone on multiple occasions but weren’t able to turn those trips into points.
The Rattler defense would eventually give up one more touchdown off a run from Clemens’ Daniel Gray to put a bow on this fall weather matchup.
This loss for the Rattlers almost certainly quells any playoff hopes. However Rattler coach John Walsh is focused on what lies directly in front of them.
“If you don’t stay the course and go to work it won’t be good for you,” said Coach Walsh “We’re good enough for the next three games to get a win. We just got to put it all together.”
The Rattlers will head on the road to face the Judson Rockets at their home turf on Friday. Fans and spectators alike can catch all the action on KTSW 89.9 FM
