By Mekenzie PrimmMusic Journalist Valentines Day has passed and Mardi Gras has wrapped up. It’s exhausting to have to celebrate these two holidays, plus Christmas, New Years and go back to school within a two month span-- so I decided to shine a little light on the holiday that I think conquers all other holidays: Public Sleeping Day. This sacred holiday falls on February 28 and while I’m not 100% […]
By Timia CobbMusic Journalist My sadness can be dramatic, suffocating, painful, lonely and is never satisfied by one sound. In my sadness, I can crave the slow soulful voice of Beyoncé as she sings about wanting trust in her relationship. My sadness can be because I’m afraid of my everchanging future which causes me to listen to the entire “It’s Not That Deep” EP by Olivia O’Brien. Sometimes I’m just […]

By Zoe Elter Music Journalist With the recent international rise of K-pop, many people (myself included) have positively crossed boundaries with the music they listen to. However, K-pop as a whole aims to reach out to a very specific audience. Elaborate commercial concepts and mass-produced supergroups, while exciting and unique, might not be to everyone’s taste. While I love groups like BTS, NCT and BlackPink, a need for a more […]

Now, my favorite genre of music tends to lean […]

The fabulous, loud and proud. The creators of musical magic across the genre spectrum. From Rap to Pop, Alternative, House, Jazz, New Orleans Bounce, Electronic and R&B. Here are 50 songs by queer black artists. A playlist for my kith and kin. Come into […]
By Lexi AshburyMusic Journalist In this playlist, titled “last college winter,” I have successfully pulled songs together that exemplify the nostalgia of simpler times with some bold, newly released tunes. Most of my playlists feature a majority of oldies and this one is no exception. A few tracks are ones I absolutely adored in high school, which I felt was only fitting to include on this list, because who doesn't […]
By Kaitlyn WatsonMusic Journalist Like most people who jumped into college after high school, being a student has been my most prominent identifying factor for the majority of my life. Mentally, I’ve gained and lost a lot, but one thing I’m proud of is that I’ve achieved my perfect playlist for studying (or for staring at the wall while I put off an impending research paper). I’ll spare everyone the […]
