Hey you guys, here’s your preview for what we’ve got coming up this week on Other Side Drive!

Monday, Reyna and Stephanie will be talking to Dianne McGabe who will fill you in on the major spring Common Experience event– the week-long visit from members of the Drepung Loseling Monastery. From the Common Experience website:
“The Drepung Loseling Monastery, Inc. in Atlanta is dedicated to the study and preservation of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of wisdom and compassion. Drepung Loseling provides a sanctuary for nurturing inner peace, community understanding, and global healing. To begin their week-long visit to campus, the monks will stage an opening ceremony before beginning a Mandala Sand Painting near the LBJ Student Center. The Mandala Sand Painting, a work of sacred art, will be created during the week of their visit.”

Tuesday, Anyssa and Harrison will have Papper K in the studio. She is the owner-operator of Lion’s Tooth Productions which is putting on the HeARTS Aware Festival. This is a two-day festival and benefit that showcases art of all forms–including music, visual, photography, jewelry-making, sculpting and more. Half of the funds received from tickets will go to The Amala Foundation and The Resonance Project and the other half will go back to the artists. Check out the event page here!

This Thursday, Melissa and Shannon will be in the studio with Austin’s La Migra. They started as two guys, Andy Anderson and Phillip Whaley, with influences like King Khan, The Ventures and Jay Reatard. Now they’re four members strong (with newest members Casey Beans and Phil Dunne) and playing their lofi garage/surf/punk sounds for the masses.

Finally on Friday, Jose and David will have ONUINU in the studio as he makes a stop at KTSW during his Winter Headline Tour. ONUINU is Dorian Duvall, a native of Cleveland who now resides in Portland. His music is an ambient electronica sound mixed with hip-hop beats and smooth vocals. He’ll be playing The Mohawk in Austin Friday night but make sure to catch him first on Other Side Drive.
