Since 2004 Apple sales have greatly increased according to a chart on aaplinvestors.net. It has become increasingly more common to see people with multiple Apple products as the attraction to the brand continues to grow with each new item. Apple has cornered the market for technology as personal use with the IPhone, IPod, MacBook, and the IPad .From the first IPod to the IPhone 5, Apple seems to grow a larger following. Journalism/ Mass communication major Katharina Guttenberg is no exception. The first Apple product she ever got was an IPhone and since then she was hooked.

“All my other phones were just the buttons, like old fashioned traditional stuff, but with this one you can do so much other stuff with it. Sometimes I even do my research and homework on it and it just makes my life so much simpler and you wouldn’t think it, but it does!”
-Gutenberg

If given the choice between a MacBook or a PC, Guttenberg would always choose the MacBook even though she doesn’t already have one.
“It would be pretty awesome to have one.”
-Gutenberg
Guttenberg believes the Apple attraction is so great among people of all ages because it is really easy to use. Guttenberg’s smartphone is practically attached to her hip. She is embarrassed to admit how much time she spends on her phone a day.
“Gosh, this is probably really sad, but 5-6 hours”
-Gutenberg
In a world that is so technology based, where smartphone ownership is increasing, this on the go world uses their smartphones for everything. According to CNN.com “Americans… spend at least eight hours a day staring at a screen. And more than one-third of smartphone users get online before they get out of bed.” Not only are cell phones used for calling and texting, but also for emails, social networking, GPS, games, music, Internet, and so much more. The endless possibilities have let to increasing amounts of time being spent on phones. Even radio is beginning to be replaced by apps such as Pandora and Spotify where you can control somewhat what you listen to by a touch of a button and it goes wherever your phone and Internet go. People also use apps to play games and Gutenberg has her favorite: The Candy Crush game.
“I play it like 20 times a day so I’m kind of addicted to it.”
-Gutenberg
20 years ago a brick cell phone that was only used for phone calls was the hottest thing around and phones just keep getting smaller, lighter, and smarter with more capabilities. In a world where new technology is released all the time, what will come next?
