Sweet Lovin’ is the first full legnth LP released by Other Lovers, and was recorded in Austin, TX by Macrocosm Productions. The album is in the folk rock category, and sounds very raw and acoustic. The first track on the album, “The Standard” sets the tone for the album, with the raw, catchy beats. The guitar chords are all very catchy, along with equally catchy melodies makes for a great listening experience. The third track on the album, “Dire World”, speaks about the problems in the world and the personal problems of the artist with very appealing melodies and beats. The fourth track “Sweet Lovin’” also sounds very raw, with a somewhat retro, playful feel to it, making it one of the more lighthearted tracks. Track five, “Destination” is one of the softer sounding songs, and really highlights the singer’s appealing vocals.
The seventh track, “Space Cadet” is one of the more lighthearted and whimsical songs off the album, with playful lyrics and melodies. The rest of the tracks on the album follow the same folky, acoustic, and catchy sounds. The whole album really showcases the songwriting and vocal abilities of the artists, and captures their raw talent. All of the songs are equally enjoyable to listen to, and there are not any tracks that stand out as not being as good as the rest. This album is an enjoyable one to listen to all the way through, and is very consistent in the songwriting and melodic qualities.
