HAIM

After repeatedly seeing HAIM’s new album hyped everywhere from Donald Glover tweeting about it to them being the spotlight DJ on Spotify,  I decided to give the album Days Are Gone a listen. This talented trio from L.A. has a sound that is impossible to hate.  Composed of sisters Danielle and Alana Haim and drummer Dash Hutton, these ladies have quite the sound. Days Are Gone is their first album and if this is what they have for their first album then I’m excited to see what’s coming up for them.

The first song off of Days Are Gone starts off with a little bit of a 90’s sound with the track “Falling”. This sound stays throughout the album. Falling is one of my favorites of the repetitive yet catchy chorus.  This was a good choice to start the album with. It set the mood for the rest and instantly put me in a good mood. The rest of the album continues with similar fast tempos as “Falling”. The voices of both the Haim sisters are very unique and pleasing to hear. The track “The Wire” does a good job of showcasing the vocals of this band. Not to mention that it is a very head-bobbing type of a song like the majority of the album. My absolute personal favorite would have to be “Honey and I” because of the instrumentals of the song. It’s a perfect song to listen to on a long drive out of town.  If you’re trying to slow it down a little in this album you should listen to “Let Me Go”. This song not only is slower in tempo but the lyrics are more on the melancholy side so it’s very fitting. It’s a great song and can hit a certain spot in your heart so fair warning. Overall, this album is absolutely great. It can make you feel  a range of emotions but mostly it will make you happy. These ladies are amazing live as well so if you get a chance, make sure to check them out on tour.
