River City News: Upcoming Triple Crown Events
In San Marcos, one of very few local music and 18+ venues, has been bought by Carson Properties in order to build more student housing. Triple Crown, the self proclaimed “Capital of Live Music of San Marcos,” has been running for 17 years, and hosts local artists including KTSW’s Third Thursday concert series. The city planning and zoning commission have met to discuss the alternative plans for Triple Crown, and nearby Eskimo Hut and Cedars Mediterranean Restaurant. Luckily though, Manning—Triple Crown’s owner did say that they plan to relocate.
As all of you music connoisseurs are aware, festival season is on its way! Outkast just announced their Festival tour in celebration of their 20th anniversary. The band will be going to over 40 festivals, kicking it off with Coachella. Will Outkast be coming to South by Southwest in March? Not likely. But the rumored headliners are making quite a lot of buzz this year. The third wave of scheduled bands is provided, but they are continuing to announce the final part of the lineup. Who are we expected to see at South by? Well some possibilities are: Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, Cut Copy, Zedd, Wavves, Explosions in the Sky, The Crystal Method, Sky Ferreira, Icona Pop, and Miley Cyrus, just to name a few. These artists have gaps in their schedules to best fit the prospect of South By in their future. The last line-up reveal will be declared at the end of this month. So keep a look out and let me know via twitter who you think will be at South by Southwest. Tweet me @RCMNsanmarcos
Other Festivals you may want to check out:
Hang Out festival is held in the beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama from May 16th-18th. The line-up includes: The Black Keys, The killers, Outkast, The Avett Brothers, Modest Mouse, The Flaming lips, and Tegan and Sarah.

New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest is notorious and relatively close. From April 25th through May 4th you could hear artists like Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Alabama Shakes, Public Enemy, and more.
Aside from festivals, some recently released albums that just dropped like Stephen Makmus and the Jicks’ album Wig Out at Jagbags, Sleepy Sun’s album Spine Hits, Apollo Brown and Guilty Simpson’s album Dice Game. All these albums have been raved about on Pitchfork and have really good vibes.
