Commissioner Whisenant is running for his second term, after being elected to his role in November of 2010. He represents Precinct 4, the Dripping Springs area, and is retired from a 36-year career with the water industry. He also works with the Clean Air Coalition and the Hays County Fleet Committee.
Whisenant says that he’s happy that he is running uncontested.
“I feel like it really is a little bit of a gift, and that gift is the year that I would’ve spent campaigning to be reelected. I can use trying to do things that I feel like are beneficial to Hays County.”

Whisenant says he has embraced obstacles during his term because they give the Commissioners more time to consider the effects of their work. Upcoming projects for Whisenant include working on the overcrowding problem in the Hays County Jail within the next year.
