Texas State’s Master of Fine Arts students will be reading from their work in the creative writing program tomorrow at 5 p.m. The event will last an hour and is open to the public. The poetry and fiction reading will be held in the Southwestern Writers Collection room, where currently the Cormac Mccarthy exhibition is being shown. The 12th Annual Black and Latino Playwrights Conference will be hosted by Texas State and starts today and will run through Sunday. This conference will feature the work of black and Latino playwrights from across the country, play development workshop rehearsals and a panel presentation. This year’s highlights will be Friday night’s tribute to Texas playwright Ted Shine on at 7:30 p.m.
San Marcos Parks and Recreation and Central Texas Medical Center will be hosting a free ice cream social and activities for senior citizens of San Marcos. This event will be hosted by the San Marcos Active Senior Hotspot, sometimes referred to as SMASH. SMASH host monthly events for senior residents in order for them to get to know other people in the area and for them to engage in activities in the community. The event will begin tomorrow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On Wednesday all Hays County Tax Offices will be closed because of a staff training. All online services will still be available and vehicle registration renewals will still be available at HEB stores and Ozona Bank in Wimberley.
