Texas State (2-2) takes on Idaho (0-4,0-2) in their first conference game of the year. Last week the Bobcats won a triple overtime thriller against Tulsa 37-34.

Idaho won the toss and elected to receive. On their first drive, Idaho quarterback Matt Linehan was 4-7 for 42 yards. Idaho wasted no time throwing it in the air. The Idaho drive stalled and they were forced to kick a a field goal. Vandals lead 3-0.
Second play of Texas State’s first drive is a pass quarterback Tyler Jones to wide receiver Demun Mercer, but Mercer fumbles and Idaho recovers at the Texas State 41-yard line.
Idaho gets a couple first down but misses a 40-yard field goal.
Tyler Jones fumbles the snap out of the shot gun and then throws a pass to his right into double coverage and is intercepted by Russell Siavii. Idaho takes over at their own 39-yard line.
Texas State defense forces two sacks on the ensuing Idaho drive and force a punt. Next play for Texas State Terrance Franks goes 70-yards for a Touchdown. Bobcats lead 7-3 with 3:13 left in the first quarter. End of the first quarter Texas State leads 7-3.

Very next play Franks goes 95 yards for his longest touchdown carry of his career. Bobcats lead 14-3. 95-yard run was the longest run in school history, previous record was 92 yards.
Texas State and Idaho trade punts. Idaho misses a 40-yard field, which was a low pull hook. Bobcats lead 14-3 with 5:44 left in the first half.
Texas State’s final drive of the first half includes a 30-yard pass from Jones to Wide receiver CJ Best, who is tackled at the Idaho 7-yard line. Bobcats go for it on fourth and goal from the one. Jones completes touchdown pass in the right flat to tight end Bradley Miller. Bobcats lead 21-3 at the half.
Teams trade punts for the first two possessions of the second half. Cornerback Craig Mager returns the Idaho punt and fumbles it and Idaho’s Austin Rehkow recovers it. Idaho takes advantage of the Mager punt and goes 16 plays for 84 yards, capped off by a four-yard touchdown run by Idaho running back Richard Montgomery. Bobcats lead 21-10 with 5:15 left in the third quarter.
First play after the Idaho touchdown, Tyler Jones throws it in double coverage intended for Jafus Gaines and his pass is intercepted. Idaho can’t take advantage of the turnover and is forced to punt and pins Texas State at the one-yard line.
Idaho takes advantage of great field position and puts together a five play 40-yard drive resulting in an Elijhaa Penny touchdown run. Bobcats lead 21-16 at the end of the third quarter.
Tonight’s attendance is 21,345, which is the fourth largest in school history.
Terrance Franks rushes for his third touchdown of the day, this time it went 70-yards to the house. Franks has touchdowns of 95,72 and 70, and currently has 11 carries for 271 yards. Bobcats lead 28-16.
Idaho answers the Franks touchdown run with another quality drive of six plays, 75 yards in 2:15. Capper of the drive was a seven-yard run by running bakc Aaron Duckworth. Bobcats lead 28-23 with 12:31 left in the game.
Bobcats answer the Vandals drive with a touchdown of their own. Tyler Jones runs the read option and keeps it to his right and runs in from 27 yards out. Drive summary is nine plays, 68 yards at 3:02. Bobcats lead 35-23 with 9:25 left in the game.
Idaho scores another touchdown closing the lead to 35-30, then forces the Bobcats to punt. Idaho has the ball back with 1:35 left. Idaho has the ball in Bobcat territory, but Linehan throws his second interception of the night picked off by Williams again. Game over.
