Today is the deadline to submit the 2014 Fall graduation application. Seniors may apply through the Self-Service Banner Menu on the Texas State website. This semester’s qualified graduates commencement ceremony will be at Strahan Coliseum on both December 12 and 13.

Ebola is still on everyone’s mind, especially after the death of Thomas Eric Duncan from Dallas on Wednesday. Director of the Student Health Center Emilio Carranco says that Ebola has the potential of becoming a worldwide threat and that Texas State is ready if it comes to that. Carranco also says that in August the health center identified two students that had traveled from West Africa, but Carranco did a risk assessment on both of the students and found there wasn’t an issue.

The 100 block of South LBJ, San Antonio Street and East MLK will be closed in both directions October 12-14. ABC Studios will be filming a TV series from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. during those days. Lane closures include Hunter Road, parts of Wonder World and Bishop Street. This will be happening until Fall 2015 due to road, bridge and drainage improvements as well.

All Hays County offices will be closed Monday for Columbus Day. Offices will re-open at their regular times on Tuesday and the Commissioners Court will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the Hays County Courthouse. The City of San Marcos’ Municipal Court, located in the Hays County Government Center, will also be closed. All other City of San Marcos offices will be open.
