Texas State University faculty, staff and students gathered at 10 a.m. today by the “Fighting Stallions” Free Speech Zone to show their support for Michael Brown, the teenager that was fatally shot by Ferguson, Mo. police officer Darren Wilson. The Missouri grand jury decided not to indict Wilson last night. In response to this, the Texas State Black Student Alliance organized a demonstration, which began with a moment of silence that lasted four-and-half minutes to represent the time that Brown was on the ground after he was shot by Wilson. Demonstrators were encouraged to enter the Free Speech Zone to share their opinions on the verdict and to take part in the national conversation about race.
