So, We Need to Talk

so...

Do you ever find yourself thinking, “Everyone has it together except me”? Don’t worry, I’m right there with ya.

Lately, I feel like everyone is moving away with new jobs, studying abroad, graduating and/or taking exciting trips.

Right now, it feels like my only biggest accomplishment is that I passed college algebra. Though I know that I am accomplished in many areas, I still can’t help but compare myself to those around me who are already starting bigger adventures than I am.

I have to remind myself often that my achievements are actually pretty significant. I sort of have to brag to myself in silent, if you will. But surely, this helps.

Another thing to realize, if you feel the same way, is that life has steps. You will eventually cross the finish line and complete your goals. After that, there will always be a new goal to reach. Remember to enjoy yourself and to live in the moment as much as you can. For me, that will be enjoying my last year of college before I graduate, taking a giant step towards my future.

Have you ever scrolled through Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, or watched someone’s Snapchat story and automatically judged yourself for not doing anything with your life? Yes, I know the guilty feeling too. Don’t worry about that either.

A close friend of mine once said, “Facebook only shows the highlights of one’s life.” It is true! Who would post a picture of themselves lying on the couch in a big t-shirt doing nothing? Okay, maybe some would, but still… see my point? Same thing goes for Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.

It’s okay to feel left out sometimes. Next time you feel left out, try to use it as a motivator. Get on your feet and tackle that goal of yours,, whether it be taking an exciting trip, getting your dream job, or graduating college. You can do it!
