The magic of continues to progress and if you’ve yet to really tune in, the time is Gossamer. The mastermind of Gossamer, Evan Reiner, just released his first full-length record, Automaton after being a part of the L.A electronica scene for about 20 years now. With a great turn towards electronic methods of composition, the artists who truly stand out are the ones who are able to convey their spirit and their love through their sounds. Gossamer’s passion for what he does is apparent, you do not only hear his art, but you feel it more than anything. This ability is what makes Automaton as breathtaking as it is. Automaton showcases looping techniques and low bass to create deep ethereal vibrations that ignites an inner flame, and a quest to understand oneself- ambient music at its finest.
“It’s a coping mechanism for the struggle to realize and balance what I am and am not in control of in my life,” Reiner says as he describes his work (quoted from the back of the album cover). From beginning to end Automaton inspires a search for that balance, ending with “For Sleep” a track which, to me, symbolizes that balance is a neverending and continuous journey. Automaton contains so much musical and emotional content that one listen through isn’t enough for a complete experience; more symbolism for the ideas of balance and understanding that Reiner talks about. For him it is a personal process, yet it can speak for so many. Automaton definitely speaks to me. My favorite tracks include “Print” and “Okuma.”
“Automaton is me,” says Reiner, and to that I say- it is very nice to meet you.

Well, lately I've been observing a lot about romantic relationships, friendships, and casual dating, which seems to be the thing to do these days. No one really ever wants to commit. If you aren't clear about what […]
