San Marcos city council and residents met last Wednesday to discuss Code SMTX, which is the rewrite of the City’s Land Development Code or LCD.
The City’s Comprehensive Plan Vision San Marcos was adopted in April 2013. The Plan calls for the replacement of the LDC so that new development will better fit San Marcos’ vision for the future.
CODE SMTX Manager, Abigail Gillifan, says that rewriting the code helps to reach the city’s comprehensive plan Vision San Marcos. Vision San Marcos is a plan that frames the vision, goals and objectives for the future of the city.
Gillifan believes community input will help to mold the future of the code and the future of San Marcos, saying “The next big step in the process is that we’re getting ready really quickly to release the draft code and we’ll get out there and continue to take feedback and input … and continue to craft this document. It’s really important to get this project right.”
Gillifan predicts that code adoption meetings will start in March of next year if everything goes as expected.
