Local San Marcos hip-hop artists gather monthly at Wake the Dead Coffee for Will Sing For Coffee. It’s a great opportunity for performers to showcase new projects and to network with the San Marcos community. This past Friday at Will Sing, I had the pleasure of being entertained by Tribe Sol, a hip-hop trio from dispersed cities around Texas. Playing only a 15 minute-long set, they had the small venue vibing from start to finish with smooth, body rocking rhymes accompanied by fine vocals.
The group’s love for what they do comes through their message and their presence on stage. They promote an environment of love and unity- speaking on topics of black empowerment and positivity. They performed a new song titled “Nappy Roots” , about the beauties of natural hair. Member PhlowVibes also performed a song from her EP Pastel Poetry on Peach Street. Tribe Sol is talented, energetic and important. I’m beyond excited to see how this group develops and where they venture off to.
