The Texas State Baseball team will be back in San Marcos this weekend taking on the Troy Trojans. The Bobcats are coming off a tough five game road trip, and are looking to improve their standing in the Sun-Belt conference over the 5th place Trojans. Voice of Trojan athletics, Barry McKnight, joined Bobcat Radio to discuss the pivotal matchup.
The Bobcats have battled weather issues this season, so we asked Barry about what he thinks about more potential weather problems this weekend in San Marcos.
“We (Troy) have not had it, this is the first time I have ever seen it and I have been at Troy for 14 years where we have not had weather issues.”
Troy is coming into San Marcos with one of the best starting rotations in the Sun Belt Conference, and Barry said the rotation has been the key to Troy’s success.
“Well they have been the saviors of the team this year to be honest. Our hitters have been powerless this season and our bullpen has been good, but not great so our identity this year has been our starting pitching.”
Barry breaks down the matchup with Texas State’s strikeout king, Lucas Humpal.
“The real issue for us will be Lucas Humpal. Humpal has never been a good matchup for us. We don’t seem to see him very well. He is one of the best in this league and there is a reason why he is an all-conference guy.”
The series starts tonight at 6 p.m. at Bobcat Ballpark and it will continue on through the weekend with Saturday’s game at 3 and Sunday at noon. You can catch all of the games right here on KTSW.
