Jo’s Coffee House creates both food and drinks, allowing this quaint little house to cater to both coffee-lovers and coffee-haters. The peaceful ambiance makes this place ideal to study an assignment, chat with an old friend or just relax. Breakfast and lunch are both served here. If anyone desires to achieve the maximum San Marcos experience, then they must stop by Jo’s Coffee House.

Walking through the front doors of Jo’s Coffee House feels like walking into my parents house while my Mom is baking blueberry-muffins. The atmosphere feels warm, cozy and inviting. The community here is not as large as some of the larger coffee shops in the area, but it is a friendly one. It is easy to start up a conversation, or even a chess game, with new acquaintances.
The porch is a pleasant place to sit under on a sunny day. The gazebo creates some shade for people to sit under while surrounded by potted plants. If you stop by Jo’s, do not be shy to strike up a conversation with someone around you. The environment this coffee house has is inviting. If this is an environment you seek than go get out of your comfort zone and make a new friend.
Eating food is definitely one of the main reasons why I love this place. The blueberry-pancakes are fluffy and make for a substantial breakfast before classes. Customers can order the small stack of pancakes or the large stack, which comes with eggs and meat. The sandwiches are always packed with flavor. My personal favorite is the reuben sandwich because it is fairly priced, fills a fat guy like me up and just flat out tastes good. I would honestly like to see Bobby Flay try to beat this sandwich.
The most popular drinks at Jo’s are the Shakester and iced toddies. Photo by Austin Cowan.
Whoever thought up the condiment bar at Jo’s made a strategic decision. For a venue with limited space, this bar contains almost anything a customer would desire to put on their food or in their drink. The coffee doctored here is mainly the drip coffee because the specialty drinks are already fine as they are. The bar contains honey, hot sauce, flavor enhancers and basic seasonings.
Yes, Jo’s Coffee House has great coffee. The baristas have told me that the most popular drinks here are the Shakester and the iced toddies. The Shakester is creamy and the ideal drink to have after finishing a test long stressed over. The iced toddies are always a go to drink for whether a person needs a little pick me up or a drink to drink when relaxing.
Jo’s Coffee House is a unique place in San Marcos because of its homey atmosphere. The drinks and food are always worth the expense. Jo’s Cafe is definitely a stop a person must take in order to get the maximum San Marcos experience.
By Alisa Pierce Blog Content Contributor The first debate between the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates aired on almost all major news networks last week. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton spent their allotted time pushing their ideas and insulting one another, while America weighed in not only on the policies presented, but also the feelings and opinions evoked by them.
