The Friend That Never Leaves Your Side

Having a sister means having a best friend for life. It doesn’t matter how many times you fight, you know you will love each other forever. She is the one who knows you the best. She has seen your best and your worst, and accepts you just as you are.

My sister is always there for me. I can call her at any time of the day and I know she’ll hear me vent out. She is the first person I call whenever something happens to me. We tell each other everything, which I don’t know if it is a good or a bad thing, but I have tried keeping secrets from her and it never happens. We text each other 24/7, and it feels weird whenever we don’t talk for a day.

You have two closets in your house, yours and your sister’s. You share clothes, accessories, purses, basically everything. Obviously, you have to get each other’s permission to borrow something, otherwise World War III begins. She is your own personal stylist. Your sister will always be willing to help you choose an outfit that will look best on you. They are honest and will tell you when something works on you, or when it doesn’t.

Unlike a normal friend, your sister will always understand what is going on with your family. She will always be on your side whenever you are in an argument with your parents (even if you are wrong). She knows every embarrassing story that has happened to you or any family member, and she will repeat it every possible chance she has.

It was really difficult separating from my sister when I came to college. We shared a room all of our lives, so now sleeping alone felt weird. Not seeing her there at the end of of my day made me miss her even more.

You have a million memories together as you were growing up. I bet she is in most of your favorite ones. For instance, one of my favorite memories is when we would organize concerts for my parents. We would choreograph dances, rehearse, dress up, make tickets and set up a stage to perform shows for them. It is so funny to see videos of us jamming Britney Spears. We have always had fun when we are together.

I have become closer to my sister as the years have passed. I feel that as you both grow older, you start to understand each other more because you start to experience many of the same things (friends, relationships, school, etc.). My sister is three years younger than me, so many of the issues she is going through right now, I had already passed and I advise her every time she needs it. She has the best advice too. Even though she is younger, she is so mature and helps me with anything.

We are very different, physically and emotionally. She is outgoing and I am shy. She is tall and I am short. But we complement each other perfectly. She is my biggest supporter. She is always challenging me to do better. I got blessed having a sister because I don’t know what would I do if I didn’t have her in my life. If you have a sister, please take care of her. If you are distant, try to get closer! She is the one friend who will never leave your side.
