KTSW’s Faculty Advisor Reflects on Being a Father for International Men’s Day

Dan Schumacher is KTSW’s faculty advisor and the only person at KTSW 89.9 who isn’t a Texas State student. He teaches audio production as well as being the head honcho of KTSW for the past 15 years.

Schumacher has three sons and often thinks about what kind of a human being he wants them to be.

“I want them to be respectful of all people,” Schumacher said.

Schumacher said that one of the stereotypes that about men that should be broken is that men need to be tough all the time. He thinks that it’s important for all men to be able to show a softer side, as well.

“That’s part of humility. That’s part of compassion for other people,” Schumacher said. “I hope that people will be more open to that, and not just make fun of people.”

Schumacher gave his advice to younger men, saying that they should be compassionate, open to all people and be as understanding as you can possibly be.

Tune into KTSW 89.9 for 24 hours of special brocast content for International Men’s Day.
