After a season where the Bobcats played well enough to demand attention from the Sun Belt Conference but not well enough to sneak into the SBC Tournament at the end of the season, Head Coach Kat Conner has some more pieces to add to the puzzle. After the first day of signings, Coach Connors announced ten new players that will don the maroon and gold next fall. When asked about the new Texas State athletes, Coach Connors said that they share the same drive and determination as recent signing classes.

The ten signees include Sarah Everett, Haley Groff, Cameron Hart, Sydney Kammer, Renny Moore, Sierra Niemann, Jessica Pikoff, Holly Streber, Kayla Streber and Megan Doyle. The most interesting thing about this group of signees is that almost every single one of them had played or went deep into the Texas State Playoffs for Soccer. Also, an underlying storyline that should be addressed is the fact that almost all of the players come from areas around the Austin-San Marcos area, which many have played into their commitment to Texas State. Coach Conner also made sure to add potential offensive leaders to a team that played good defense all season, but was unable to close out the close games that mattered in conference play.
Another interesting fact is that with the addition of Holly and Kayla Streber, Texas State now has the potential to have three sets of sisters on their sports teams (in addition to Brooke and Bailey Holle in Basketball and Sara and Randi Rupp in Softball), which is something that hasn’t garnered attention from many.
The Bobcats look to improve from a 6-9-3 record in 2016, and with these new acquisitions, Coach Conner and the Texas State Bobcat Soccer program look to have taken steps in the right direction.
