The last time the Longhorns faced the Bobcats, Shortstop Luke Sherley played the role of a heartbreaker. Tuesday night’s matchup didn’t have the same flair. The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead, scoring four first inning runs. That lead is what put a nail in the Bobcats coffin, with the Longhorns only scoring two runs after the fifth inning.
Cam Baird got the start, but only pitched two and 2/3rds innings, giving up four hits and five runs. Jaylen Hubbard and Jared Huber lead the Bobcats offensively going a combined 3 for 7 with two RBIs both coming in the fourth inning. The Bobcats put six pitchers on the mound.
The loss dropped the Texas State Bobcats to 20-14 with their next matchup coming Friday in Tro Alabama at 6pm.
