If you’re a frequent music festival go-er, you probably already know how to prepare for the majestic mayhem. But if not, I got you.
Want to keep your drink cold all day?Bring an insulated tumbler! It doesn’t have to be a Yeti. I got mine at Two P’s and Calli’s here in San Marcos. Photo by Allison Johnson
Item #1: Water bottle Water is so important to bring to a music festival. Bring a reusable water bottle if you have one. MR Fest is April 29th and 30th so it will most likely be hot. If you’re walking around venues all day you will be so thankful you brought water. It is much cheaper to refill a water bottle than to buy a bottle every time you get thirsty.
Item #2: A fanny pack I know some people are fans, some are not, but if you know where to get them, you can find cute ones. Check out San Marvelous or The Fan Shop at Bobcat stadium for some. Fanny packs are great for easy access to things like your phone, chapstick, or even a small camera. Fanny packs make you worry less about where your phone is. It’s zipped up in a bag right in front of you, so there’s no worrying about it falling out of your pocket while dancing and jumping up and down while checking out bands!
Item #3: A portable charger You can find some pretty cheap portable chargers at Walmart. Just charge the battery and bring that along with the USB cord that comes with it. A charged phone during a music festival is great for many reasons. If you’re going with friends, there’s a chance that you might split up during the festival at some point or another to see a different band or performer. (Keep this in mind if you go to ACL too.) The charging stations there are always packed at the festival.
Item #4: Money Don’t forget your wallet. Make sure to stop by your bank to get out cash too. Events are FREE. So you will only need money for vendors, food and drinks.
Item #5: Deodorant or body spray You’ll most likely be out all day so it is important to feel nice and fresh despite the heat. Pack some deodorant. Not only does staying fresh make you feel good, but it’s considerate of others. Don’t be that smelly person standing in front of someone during a performance.
Item #6: Shades Check out the outlets for a nice pair of sunglasses to wear. Walking around outside in the blazing hot sun without sunglasses leaves you with squinty eyes in every picture. Shades will help this problem and might even bring your outfit together.
Item # 7: A Sharpie If one of the bands on the lineup is your favorite, why not ask for an autograph. Make sure you are prepared with your permanent marker and something to get signed.
If you do not own any of these items, don’t worry! Your experience at MR Fest will be just as great. Be sure to check out my article that gives you tips about how to prepare for MR Fest.
By Alexandra Cochran Blog Content Contributor When we look into the terrors and inappropriate behaviors within the culture of men, it's often populated by negativity: men are more violent than women, there are more recorded suicides from men, and there is always a constant attempt to prove their masculinity within society. Toxic masculinity exists within our society because our culture is still strongly gender-polarized; it has just recently allowed women […]
