Here at KTSW, we have a monthly, rambunctious meeting where each and every member apart of the station gets to be all in the same room. Chaotic? Yes, but only in the cool, college radio fashion. At the beginning of each meeting, the executives award a staffer with the Champion of the Month award. The awardees are usually members who are on top of their game when it comes to their position at KTSW. With the very first All-Staff meeting of the semester, we decided to take it to the next step and show off the recipients a little more by showcasing them on our blog.

Sports: Andrew Zimmel

“Andrew led the way with innovative ideas and pushed me to be on top of my game from the get go. I have known him for a year now, and his desire for sports has never changed. He is willing to step up when I need an extra hand to work games that come up.”  – Parker Rhea, Sports Director.

Programming: Lindsey Petterson

“Brand new to my staff this past summer, Lindsey is a natural on-air. She knows so much about the music and does a great job giving that information to the listeners with a natural charisma and flow. I’m so excited to see where she takes the Local Show this fall semester, coming on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. right here on KTSW 89.9.” – Kristopher Tondre, Programming Director.

Promotions: Loren Schaffer

“Loren is always ready to help wherever she can! She shows up early, stays late, and consistently has the coolest attitude. We couldn’t do it without her!” -Andrea Torres, Promotions Director.

Production: Allison Johnson

“Allison joined my staff this past summer and hit the ground running. She quickly moved from Junior Production Assistant, to Senior Production Assistant as she put in extra time to make sure that she was learning everything that she could, was timely with communication and produced Senior Production sounding elements from the first cycle that she did, to our current cycle this semester, all within such little time.” – Jourdan Bazley, Production Director

Multimedia: Remi

“My champion, Remi, volunteers to shoot everything he can, always works with me on scheduling, and produces really quality work! He isn’t afraid to get up close and personal to get awesome shots and he pushes all of us to be better at our jobs.” – Brooke Adams, Multimedia Director

Other Side Drive: Christopher Turner and Kyndal Runnels

“I chose Christopher Turner and Kyndal Runnels for their work during the Back 2 School Broadcast. They interviewed Liz Hibbs from the Alkek Library and had a great show overall. They both come prepared and have been dedicated members of the Other Side Drive staff.” – Kimberly Clay, Other Side Drive Executive Producer.

Social Media: Megan Ho

“I chose Megan because she’s always working very hard and always asking questions to make sure she does the best work she possibly can. She works extremely well with our ever changing schedule and it’s a pleasure to have her on my staff.” – Courtney Castillo, Social Media Administrator.

Community Relations: Christina Sueffert

“Christina is one of the most kind, attentive people I have ever met. She is well-connected and always willing to help. She does her job amazingly and I know I can always rely on her. I look forward to seeing the work she is able to create.” – Haley Helenbrook, Promotions Director

News: Camelia Juarez

“Camelia’s very first week on the job, she volunteered for In the Public Interest. When she’s not tracking down sources for her stories, she’s in the newsroom editing or writing newscasts.” – Aaron Derton, News Director.

Web Content: Jenise Jackson

“I picked Jenise due to her amazing work she produces on a weekly basis. Her article topics are always interesting and thought-provoking. Whenever I ask something of her, she does not hesitate to help me out! Jenise has such a strong presence on my staff, and I am so grateful for her! ” – Asia Daggs, Web Content Manager.

Executive: Jourdan Bazley

“I chose Jourdan as my champion of the month because she is hard-working, self-motivated and enthusiastic. She is very prompt and always gets her work done with a smile, even when we’re in a time crunch! Jourdan has a positive attitude that permeates to everyone who has the pleasure of working with her. In the Production Department, Jourdan brings organization and top-notch creativity. Thank you Jourdan for all that you do!” – Belen Ramos, KTSW Station Manager.

Check back next month for the next round of KTSW Champions!
