San Maximum: Mamacita’s

All the foodies reading this will be thrilled for the latest addition of yet another restaurant to the San Maximum page. Because of all the people who have made this cantina part of their routine schedule, Mamacita’s has made it onto our list of necessary stops in San Marcos. The food is served hot and delicious by a welcoming staff. A plate of food at Mamacita’s is definitely something a person must get in order to achieve the maximum San Marcos experience.

Location: Mamacita’s Restaurant is located at 1400 Aquarena Springs Dr, San Marcos, TX 78666.

The last time I visited, I ordered the carnitas. I have never been so excited about the portion size of a plate. The plate was more of a platter, which would make any guy who is borderline starving come running. The dish consisted of pork tenderloin which was accompanied by tomatoes, avocado, sour cream, onion and tomatillo sauce. With all of those ingredients, this dish was mouth-watering. The carnitas is personally my favorite dish here. However, everything is great. A friend of mine orders the nachos religiously, while my friend Charlie enjoys their chicken fried steak. No matter your diet restrictions, there is something here for everyone.

The Atmosphere 

I would describe the atmosphere in this restaurant as relaxed. The seating area is a wide open room which allows customers to see the entire place at once, while having enough space between adjacent tables to comfortably talk in private with their family and friends. The servers do a good job at both greeting customers and checking up on them. I have visited this restaurant both when they were very busy and when they were not and have never seen a customer sit a table waiting for a refill. Sometimes when I go to restaurants routinely, the quality of service varies depending on the server, but Mamacita’s has provided good servers each time. Mamacita’s deserves an A+ when it comes to service.

My Experience Here 

I have visited this restaurant with all sorts of family and friends and have always left feeling like I had a great time. As my older siblings are Texas State alumni, they brought me to this restaurant because they wanted to show me the “good stuff” in San Marcos.  I remember ordering an enchilada plate and leaving with plenty of leftovers. Since then, I have returned to this restaurant many times. Even with a diverse group of friends each time, everyone has enjoyed their Mamacita’s experience. If anyone wishes to enjoy a great sit-down meal in San Marcos then you should visit Mama-SEAT-a’s.

Mamacita’s is an essential part of the San Marcos experience because who does not love great food and service? Next time your stomach starts to growl, make your way on down to Mama’s house and grab a bite to eat.
