Mass Comm week is here, and you guys don’t want to miss it out on all of the events! Mass Comm week is hosted by the School of Mass Communication and Journalism this week, October 16-19. This is a great opportunity for students to brand themselves and listen to professionals talk about their careers, personal experiences and survival in the mass communication and journalism field. All students are welcome to join any and all sessions.

I just want to mention my personal favorite guest speaker that is going to be on campus today Monday, Oct. 16. Matt Nelson, the creator of the incredibly popular We Rate Dogs page on twitter, will be holding several different sessions in Old Main and Alkek Teaching Theater. He’s going to be talking about how he turned his passion into a career, and how you can too. If you’re interested in seeing him, don’t forget to purchase his new book here and get it autographed!

Other guest speakers include: Jill Ament, John Salazar, Chris Davis, Kathryn Gisi and even our very own Dale Blasingame. Topics range from covering Hurricane Harvey to Women Who Code. I encourage anyone who is majoring in Mass Comm or Journalism to take a look at the schedule and find sessions you would like to attend!
There will also be sessions to take tours of KTSW and University Star on several different days, as well as a mass comm job fair located in the LBJ Ballroom.
