SAN MARCOS–Police arrested a driver after he jumped the curb and struck down a man at the intersection of Riverside at the west IH-35 access and fled the scene Friday evening.
The driver has been identified as Uriah Keith Robinson, 29, a news release said.
At the scene, officers identified the man struck down as Tyrus Dennis Piano, 48, from Kyle.
After the accident, witnesses said the driver of the van drove away until he lost control at the turnaround underneath IH-35 at the San Marcos River and hit a tree.

Witnesses helped Robinson out of the van and he was then taken into custody by San Marcos police.
A passenger in the van fled the scene and was taken into custody by Texas State University Police.
Robinson had blood work done at Central Texas Medical Center and was then booked into the Hays County Jail and charged with intoxicated manslaughter. Additional charges were added later.
The passenger names have not been released.
Robinson has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid, escape, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest/search/transport and possession of marijuana.
