On Friday night’s district matchup between the San Marcos Rattlers versus the Samuel Clemens Buffalos, it was Clemens who walked away with the 58-24 victory.

The Buffalos running attack was too much to handle for the Rattlers as the dynamic duo of Max DiDomenico and A’Mari Williams had a handfull of touchdowns together. Didomenico ended the game with five rushing touchdowns and Williams added three as well.

On the other side of the ball, the Clemens defense stepped up every time they touched the field. Both three-star players Derrick Lewis and Mason Chambers were able to force major turnovers that halted the Rattlers offense throughout the game. Chambers had a strip fumble which he recovered and added an interception as well. His teammate Lewis, on the other hand, had a big interception which would’ve been a touchdown had Clemens not got called for a block in the back penalty.

However, the Rattlers had bright spots throughout the game as offensive playmaker Takai Madgett helped the Rattlers offense with his pass-catching. Madgett had two receiving touchdowns boosting the Rattlers offense.

Another highlight on the offensive side of the ball was sophomore running back Savion Johnson who came into the game after an injury at the running back position. Johnson led the way as he ran for a huge 60-yard touchdown early in the third quarter.

Defensively for the Rattlers, Kannon Webb and Malik Gordon helped the San Marcos defense come up with big stops that would give their offense the ball. It was Gordon who started things off as he was able to make a diving interception in the second quarter followed by Webb who also made a tremendous diving interception right before the end of the first half.

San Marcos will play the New Braunfels Unicorns at Unicorn Stadium on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. You can catch the pregame action on KTSW 89.9 starting at 7:15 p.m.
